ベティ

There is more than one artist named "ベティ" (BETTY). 1.) Formed in mid-2005, ベティ was the premise to 176BIZ and only consisted of two official members: 勇 (Yuu) (Vocals, ex-NEVER CRAZY) and　たら (Tara) (Bass, (ex-パニックちゃんねる/panic*ch and ex-Virtione). 翼 (Tsubasa) (ex-パニックちゃんねる/panic*ch and ex-cynical biscuit) acted as their support guitarist and NANA (ex-MASK) was their support drummer. They had a few lives and one release - then, during spring of 2006, 勇 and　たら announced that 翼 will join the band as their official guitarist, (changing his name to 刻 (Toki)) as well as guitarist 雪希 (Setsuki) (ex-Guitarist of カレン) and drummer 楓栖 (Kasumi) (ex-La'miss†fairy, ex-ギミック). Thus, their ベティ-era officially ended. With this change, they changed their name to 176BIZ and gained a good amount of popularity in the visual indies scene, mainly due to their lineup. Officially, ベティ only released one maxi-single "朱-アカ-" which was limited to 2000 prints and quickly sold out. Due to this fact, the release is hard to come by. ベティ is considered oshare kei due to their rather bright, play- and colorful appearance; their songs do not entirely share the distinct oshare traits, though: One of them comes off as jazzy, another one is hard. One of their songs is a slow ballad, while another one can be pretty much described as pop-rock. Thus, their style isn't easily placed. 2.) ベティ were a visual-kei band formed in July of 2015, signed to ROCKSTAR RECORDS. Their lineup was announced shortly after the record label was opened, but they did not release their first song until December of that same year on the omnibus Black Market Gang Vol. 1 . Although the band was featured in numerous events and shows sponsored by ROCKSTAR RECORDS, it was rumored that most, if not all, of the money brought in by the band was given directly to the label's owner in order to keep the business afloat. In the fall of 2016, these rumors came to the surface as several more successful acts signed to RR began publicly denouncing their ties to the label for poor management through secession, such as Devil Kitty and The Egoist, and in some cases disbandment (which is what happened for メアリィ and Ｄｅａｒ). In October of 2016, the band announced that they would be disbanding on December 31st While their only official release was a single omnibus track, ベティ also released several live distributed demos for purchasing goods. It is unclear what those demos were, however, since they are not officially listed on their website. Front-man Kiryu often posted the band's setlists on Twitter, which showed that they had quite a large deal of unreleased material.
