Asami Izawa was born on November 11th, 1982 in Tokyo, Japan. She began pursuit of a musical career at the age of 18, when she began to write songs. She debuted with an indies release, a single called "Power of Ring", on March 3rd, 2004, with the record label Village-A. All songs on the single were written and composed by her. She also sent in a demo tape to Sony Music Japan, and staff were stunned by her excellent vocals. She was immediately taken under Sony Music Japan and started work on her debut mini album, "AIA". "AIA" was released on April 6th, 2005, almost a year after her indies debut. "AIA" contained 2 songs from her indies debut; "Power of Ring", which was renamed to "Visualize" and was given a PV, and "TANPOPO no Kataomoi", which was renamed to "Maybe". Three new tracks appeared on the mini album as well. Two tracks, Visualize and ミルクティー (MIRUKUTII or Milk Tea), were given PVs. Although Asami was unknown, AIA managed to rank within the top 100 weekly albums. Three months later, on July 27th, 2005, her anticipated 1st single was released. Her 1st single, Fly Away, received decent promotion, as it was the 2nd ending theme for the anime series Eureka Seven. As with her mini album, all songs on the single were composed and written by her. The single featured a b-side and a remix of the main track, Fly Away. Asami then pulled a disappearing act, leaving a trail of excited fans wondering about her next release. Although the diary on her official site (called Izawa Note) updated often, fans did not get news of a new release until April of 2006. It was announced that she was in Seoul, South Korea, recording her new summer single Orange sunshine, which was released on June 21st, 2006. The main track, Orange sunshine, is a refreshing, upbeat summer song. The b-side, やまない雨はない (Yama nai ame wa nai), is the Tales of Eternia ONLINE image song. CLAZZIQUAI PROJECT, a popular band in Korea who also debuted in Japan, helped compose Orange sunshine. Furthermore, it was announced that Asami's next (3rd) single, Battlefield of Love, will be released on August 30th, 2006. It is the new opening of the anime series, Angel Heart, and will air as the new opening on July 10th. With her soulful voice, she continues to gain fans with every release. Read more on Last.fm.
