It started in the winter of year 2004, originated from a crossword puzzle, Hualun accidentally was born. The band was formed in a centre city of China named Wuhan, several youth kept experimenting for their own music and began their journey of music life in the end of year 2006. Inherit from elder generation of Wuhan punk, not only primitive rough aesthetic but also melodic songs are composed to express sincere emotion. Therefore, in early phase of the band live shows, energetic sweet melodies were performed and they became a distinctive style, known as ‘China post rock avant-garde’. In 2007, after first national tour of 12 cities in China, introduced by vocal & guitarist Xie yugang of Wangwen, Hualun band established the first album ‘Silver Daydream’in Beijing independent record brand Foxtail. As the name of the album, an adolescent ardent teen spirit intertwined with rock ‘n’ roll dream and sorrow is performed. In the early of 2008, band member Zuoyi (now in band AV OKUBO) who had participated in the first album compose left the band and new drummer Lijing joined. Hualun had completed ‘Aviator and blind mountain’ national tour in 2008 and searched for new compose direction. At the end of year 2009, the band completed all the compose work of second album ‘Asian River’. In 2010, Hualun joined the Modernsky family and became the first experiment rock band of the Modernsky brand. Former guitarist Wujun of band Godot helped finish recording of Hualun second album. In 2011, ‘Asian River ’was established in Modernsky. Like Asian river, hustle and flow. The second album still adopted simple image to express, expressing a kind ambition——endless vitality of rock ‘n’ roll music made band members allow to hope and anticipate good things happen after suffering from daily life trifles. The same year, after the third national tour, the band was dismissed because of personnel change. Two guitarists Dingmao and Zhumingkang moved to Beijing. Helped by friend and agent Road, Hualun was rebuilt in Beijing. From year 2011 to 2014, newly member Rubey (guitarist, also an indie musician), Fengjunhua (drummer) and Wangwei (bass guitarist) joined continually and poured vitality in Hualun. No matter creating voice of California coastal road or distant desperately lonely sound of cosmo brothers, Hualun had shown a more opened rock‘n’roll attitude. We keep on studying new direction of experiment music and hope to find a new door of energy and form a new aesthetic style.
