Margarita Hranova is a Bulgarian pop singer whose songs have been appreciated by several generations. 2006 is a jubilee year for Margarita – she turns fifty- five, completes 35 years since she’s been on the Bulgarian pop stage and has over 300 songs in her repertoire. She completed her formal musical education at the Pop Music Department of the State Academy of Music. Her solo career took off in 1972 when she won second prize at the Golden Orpheus Pop Song festival in Bulgaria and the Special Prize of the Jury at a Pop Song Festival in Alexandria, Egypt. These were followed by many more. The song “ Impetuous” won her a first prize at the Festival in Sopot, Poland in 1978. Margarita hasn’t dropped it till date. It’s turned into a visiting card of sorts. Among the great number of albums that she’s issued, there is one of duets with Bulgarian singers and actors. Margarita Hranova is extraordinarily artistic and she has turned herself into a hit on the dramatic stage in most recent years. She has been partnering with Ivailo Hristov in the “ Mission” troupe. All songs she has been singing in theatre productions will be soon out in a separate album entitled: “My songs in theatre”. Late last year leading Bulgarian composer Nayden Andreev asked Margarita to perform in duet with him the female vocals in his author album” Colour of erased lipstick”.
