Since 2002, 12 Summers Old has made the world their stage. They hail from the St. Louis suburb of Belleville, Illinois - a little town 15 minutes east whose biggest claim to fame is Stag Beer, Uncle Tupelo & the worlds longest main street. While that’s not saying a lot, it’s more than most of the Midwest has to offer….. so back off! Too heavy to be indie, too melodic to be hardcore & too pop to be emo. A raucous romp from pop to hardcore with vocal hooks that stick in your head for days. 12 Summers Old has managed to create a fresh sound without alienating anyone in the process. Songs penned on failed rock stars, failed relationships & the regretful thoughts of what might have been, all seem to have the same urgency that is both comfortable and familiar and yet somehow impossible to ignore. This is music that reminds you that some bands have found a way to grow beyond the sum of their parts. After three independent releases, two compilations and years of touring under their belts, 12 Summers Old shows no sign of slowing down now. They have managed to cultivate a loyal following and an energetic live show that is not to be missed while never losing their focus or the drive of creating something truly sincere. While I’m sure you have heard these statements a hundred different times about a hundred different bands, it’s that cliché itself that gives 12 Summers Old so much of its charm. Read more on Last.fm.
