"35 Inch Mudder is in the MONSTER rock vein, and boy, are they a shot in the arm," begins HITS Magazine reviewer Jimmy Barnes in a recent issue. "The overall vibe is heavy as a tank and fires just as hard." Now for the punch line: this Monster rock sound does not hail from the East Coast nor does it come from the West Coast, the treacherous tank that is 35 Inch Mudder is rolling out of Des Moines, Iowa, representing the Midwest. 35 Inch Mudder formed in 1996 & quickly built a following in the Central Iowa music scene. Mudder played hundreds of shows & shared the stage with many National bands including: Deftones, Limp Bizkit, Stone Temple Pilots, Slipknot, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Snot, Incubus, System of a Down, Godsmack, Powerman 5000, Coal Chamber, Static-X, Orgy, Fear Factory, Megadeth, Machine Head, Anthrax, Motley Crue, Sevendust, Ultraspank, The Urge, Goldfinger, Soulfly, Taproot, Kittie, Cold, (hed)PE, Nothingface, Stuck Mojo, Chevelle, Full Devil Jacket, Staind, Primer 55, Step Kings, Dope, Mudvayne, American Head Charge and Disturbed. Released in December of 1997, 'Definition of Purpose' spent two months on Ames' Musicland's Top 20 Best Sellers chart, peaking at No. 4. Within weeks, 'It All Comes Back' became a consistent Top 5 requested tune on KAZR Lazer 103.3 in Des Moines, despite only receiving air-play on a Sunday evening local music show. These requests launched Mudder into regular rotation & Mudder became the first and only unsigned band to do so in Lazer 103.3 history. 'It All Comes Back' reached as high as No. 3 on Lazer's Top 5 list and was followed by '21 Years of Pain', which peaked at No. 2 on the request log. The second single also reached No. 1 on KURE 88.5's metal chart in Ames. In October of 1998, Mudder released 'Stained', a 6 song EP, featuring 'Full Scale War'. They recorded the EP at SR Audio in Des Moines, with accomplished producer Sean McMahon (Slipknot). Mudder sold over 6,000 copies of 'Stained' & recieved Nationwide air play with the help of The Syndicate. 'Full Scale War' reached as high as #9 on FMQB's Metal Detector in the summer of 1999. After showcasing in New York & Los Angeles, Mudder landed a demo deal with Maverick Records & headed back into the studio once again to record with producer Sean McMahon. However, the demo wasn't picked up, so Mudder released it as the self-titled EP. The EP featured 'Preventive Reaction' & 'I'm Still Here'. Shortly after releasing the EP, Mudder disbanded. Just recently in 2013, Cory (C-Bone) Brown collaborated with Dead Horse Trauma frontman Eric Davidson to re-record 'Full Scale War'. The 15 year anniversary version of the song was recorded & produced by Joe Fox at Fox Den Studio in West Des Moines & mixed by Donnie Mengwasser at 660 Records in Greeley, Colorado. The new recording of 'Full Scale War' will be available for a free download on October 20th 2013 on Mudder's website. Read more on Last.fm.
