Anilore is a shoegaze band from New York, United States. The members of Anilore met in 1992 at college. They soon realized that their musical tastes were shaped by the same influences: bands such as Joy Division, the Cocteau Twins, New Order, the Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, Red House Painters, the Pixies, and Nirvana; artists such as Tom Waits and Nick Cave; and the seminal alternative British labels 4AD and Creation Records. After many years of line-up changes, demos, etc., in 1996 the band recorded their debut album, "Still Awake", which was released in 1997 through Dysmal/Abysmal in a limited edition of 500 copies. In 2006, guitarist Andrew Malenda decided to re-master "Still Awake". He then posted several tracks from the album on Anilore's Myspace page. Their songs soon found a new audience, one that had an enthusiasm for the shoegaze artists that had helped Anilore come together as a unit almost a decade before, and who discovered in their songs the same epic beauty common to contemporary artists like Sigur Rós and Interpol. http://www.facebook.com/aniloreband http://anilore.bandcamp.com Read more on Last.fm.
