The Atomic Jazz Band was formed by Haj Juma and Julius Kiluwa in Tanga's popular Swahili Street quarters in 1954. Like the other bands, these young men first made their own small drums and copied songs they heard on gramophone records. In the course of time they acquired a club house, additional instruments and fame that made them into one of the leading bands of the 1960s. These recordings were made by Mzuri Records in 1968 and first released in early 1969. Read more on Last.fm.
