Aunt Kizzy'z Boyz are a high energy blues/rock/soul band. Not only will you be blown away by their musical talents, but their high energy, soulful stage performance is mesmerizing. They don't just perform, they ENTERTAIN! Took 2nd place at 2006 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Biography Aunt Kizzy'z Boyz is a diverse group of musicians from Southern California, who perform high-energy blues, rock & soul. The core band members are Jim King / Lead Guitar, Sugaray / Lead Vocals, Dwane Hathorn / Drums, Joe Schiavone / Bass and Bastos Moenho / Percussion. Michael Mack / Keyboards. In January 2006 the Boyz competed at the 2006 IBC (International Blues Challenge) in Memphis TN, where they came home with 2nd place, after competing with over 130 blues bands from around the world. They also recently opened for Etta James in the Pechanga Showroom to a sold out crowd where they received a standing ovation and performed an encore. Their performance will energize your body and replenish your soul. The boyz perform originals and covers, but the covers are kizzyfied, making them unique to the boyz style. Aunt Kizzy's Boyz will guarantee that your next event is a big success. Their first CD, trunk full of bluez, was released January 2004 to rave reviews. Blues Critic stated in March 2006: ".If you ain't got a great singer you ain't got this critic's ear. Well, the Boyz got themselves a serious blues-shouter who goes by the name Sugaray Rayford. Hailing from Tyler Texas, Sugaray possesses one of those powerful ,gospel-soaked voices that can take the meekest of songs and improve it. He and his mates start their debut disc, "Trunk Full Of Bluez", on the good foot with a ripping 12-bar blues shuffle called "Jelly Roll". Sugaray comes-a wailing' and guitarist Jim King shreds mightily over the racing groove, courtesy of bassist Joe Schiavone and drummer Duane Hathorn. And their show stopping version of Albert King's "Rub My Back". This track sizzles! Dare I say it even eclipses King's version and this is coming from a serious Albert King admirer!” CD #2 is a live recording entitled It’s Tight Like That, and was just released June 23, 07 . Jim King - Lead Guitar, Vocals, Harmonica Jim King's soulful sounds have been burning up Southern California for over 25 years. A native Californian, Jim was born in Lake Arrowhead and raised in coastal LA area. Prior to Aunt Kizzy'z Boyz, Jim Played in numerous blues bands including Maxx, Tonnage, Holy Smoke, R.M.B.P., and King James and the Blues Testament. King's solo debut album, WHEN THE BLUES ARE GREEN garnered rave reviews & he recently signed with Grooveyard Records for distribution of this CD. "Blues Revue" magazine stated: "His stripped-down approach reveals an uncanny soulfulness that's almost unnerving in its depth and effectiveness." Grooveyard Records states: “Excellent debut studio disc from this awesome, obscure blues/rock guitar slinger from California featuring an amazing, superb eleven track Peter Green musical tribute. Deep burning blues licks, killer extended solos…” He has performed with Alex Ligertwood (Santana), Chuck Kavooras (The slide God), Gary Malliber (Steve Miller), Tommy Ere (Joe Cocker) and many others. Sugaray - Lead Vocals Texas born Sugaray began his musical career at the age of 7 singing with the choir in church and his gospel influence can be heard and felt in his music. He has performed with many notable artists, including James Gadson, Joe Luis Walker, Kal David, Slash (Guns N Roses), Average White Band, Gerald Johnson, Super Diamond, Venice & Dennis Quaid to name a few. When Sugaray belts out a song, you not only hear it you feel it. With his dynamic voice, you hear echoes of Muddy Waters, Otis Redding and Teddy Pendergrass. His fluid dance steps will remind you of the Legendary James Brown. When he performs you will find it hard to stay in your seat, and before you know it you will find yourself on your feet, having a great time dancing the night away. Dwane Hathorn -Drums Dwane grew up in Compton, California. He was raised on blues, jazz, big band and R&B. This diverse background gives Dwane a broad perspective when it comes to music. He has performed/collaborated with Marshall Hawkins (Miles Davis), Chubby Jackson, Harold Land, Bob Boss, Bill McGee, Greg Crockett (Motown), Stan Smith (Bernie Mack Show), and many others. Joe Schiavone - Bass Guitar The newest addition to the band, Joe has been playing bass since 1976. Since high school, music has played a major role in Joe's life. He attended the Jamie Faunt Creative School of Music in Hollywood. Joe has played with numerous talented bands. These bands include L.A. Knights, Oil of L..A. Band, and Ric Henderson Blues Band to name a few. He has also done studio and video work.
