Blacksteel and Badger are two companions of sound. More than just DJ's, they started out making mashups and mixes, then broke into the Winchester music circuit, playing functions, bars and the University Student Union. Mashing up genres from the extensive lengths of their prospective musical tastes, they combine songs, sounds, and beats to provide an eclectic new sound. Their first album Alpha Bravo Audio is a journey through songs, voices, clips, sounds and unexpected mixes. Best listened to in one go, the album has the air of experiment to it, an exploration into their art. Special treats include LoseMySpitfire, played on Xfm and various venues in the UK. Ghosts Appear is the second, more developed album. More experienced with the technical aspects of mashup making, the guys deliver an album with longer, more stand-alone tracks. Starting with a strong Garage/Dance vibe, with single 'The Fever' very popular in the southwest. The album then takes a discernable shift into the dark, with mixes of Chris Izaac and Joe Strummer; Gary Numam and Eminem; and Korn and Leftfield. Coming to a highly performative climax. As live DJ's, they use laptop editing and performance software to provide pre-edited mixes along with requests from a 10,000 strong library of instantly available commercial tracks. All main genres covered, even the more obscure! Blacksteel and Badger are Sam McCathie and Thomas Eames. Currently working in Winchester. Read more on Last.fm.
