Buzz Carlton Biography b. Clyde Gordon Carlton Jr. on August 8, 1962 in Richmond, VA., Buzz Carlton showed a knack for singing by the age of two. While growing up the only child of a single parent in the west end of Richmond, he was influenced by a variety of styles and artists. As a youth he participated in organized sports but his real interest was music. After teaching himself to play guitar, Carlton began writing songs and singing in nightclubs. While working his way along the East Coast, Carlton opened concerts for country music artist Ronnie McDowell and Jimmy C. Newman of the Grand Ol’ Opre. Following a 1988 showcase at The Bluebird Café, he relocated to Nashville, later settling in his hometown in 2001. In 2004 Millhouse Records released an EP of Carlton’s material entitled “Blame it on the Blues”. His follow up album, "Just This Side of the Blues", showcases 10 of his original songs and was given 3 stars by "All Media Guide" (AMG). His highly acclaimed third album, “Somebody Get Me My Guitar”, also given 3 stars by (AMG), was submitted to the Recording Academy for Grammy Award consideration. "The Way My Daddy Done" was the first single to come off the album reaching #1 on the Cashbox Indie Charts in January of 2008. After the release of "The Best of Buzz Carlton", a compilation of Carlton's work spanning a period of six years, his career really began to take off. Having independently carved his niche as a songwriter, performer, producer, and record company owner, Buzz Carlton has come to be known as the "King of Indie". Buzz Carlton's songs are receiving radio airplay in three continents and can be downloaded at digital music sites world wide.
