Borned in 1947 at Tucunduva, RS, Cenair Maicá had his first contact with music at age of 3, when his family moved to the border between Argentina and Brazil, which had a major influency over his music. He started his career playing music of ohter compositors. But it didn't take too long to begins making his own songs, always committed to rescue and keep the culture "missioneira". This inspiration is deeply present in all his work, as a strike back over the market-international (specially north-american) influence present in the 70's in Brazil. His three first albums, "Caminhos", "Canto Missioneiro" and "Canto dos Livres" have a strong influence and commitmment with the cause of south-brazilian, argentinian and uruguayian indians, telling about their past and present, as a denunce of the forgetting about this people. Nevertheless, in his fourth and last album, Cenair gets back to his infance, making songs talking about his past and the time he lived in the border of Urugaui river, what explains the album's name, "Rio de Minha Infância". He past away in 1989, letting a very recognized work and deeply respected for all people involved and fans of the real "Gaúcha" music and "Missioneira" culture. (Adapted from "Revista Sinpro - ed.
