Dardanelles are a four piece band from Melbourne, Australia. They formed in 2006. Their sound is difficult to categorise, but falls loosely under the post/art-punk umbrella, and channels elements of shoegaze, electronica, ambient noise, and industrial. They are renowned for the ability to meld disparate musical elements into a continuous soundscape, matched with impressionistic lyrics. Their first album, MIRROR MIRROR, was shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize, QANTAS/SOYA Music Prize, and was ranked the 6th best album of 2007 by the INPRESS critics. Dardanelles have previously toured with Crystal Castles, Who Made Who, 1990s, Howling Bells, Ratatat, Shocking Pinks, and many more. They have played most Australian festivals, including Pyramid, Playground, Field Day, Trackside, Essential and more. Read more on Last.fm.
