In one of the age's most uncertain hours, with streets on fire, random murders and the Nightwalker gaining in strength with every step he takes, a spark of dark light was raging through the old and downtrodden paths of the once glorious city of Antwerp, Belgium. When Alex Agnew, crawling home after a night of binging and badmouthing in his hometown stumbled upon this spark, he seized the opportunity and enkindled it into a fire of inspiration. Alex, mostly known because of his standup comedy appearances had already fallen in love with music even before the first time Frank Sinatra had been arrested. When performing guest vocals for a local surfband The O'Harras, he felt the urge to start his own band. The need to release his musical ideas onto the world became almost suffocating and he started conceptualizing the perfect rock band. While looking for appropriate members of his yet un-named band, he quickly found longtime friend Dave who played guitar for Thunderheart Machine, party comrade Marc to kick the drums and why not his own girlfriend Yasmine to play bass. After some first baby steps, and inspired by a Corrosion of Conformity song, Diablo Blvd came to life and played its first show to an appreciative crowd. In March 2006 Alex asked Andries to reinforce them on guitar. Andries had already left a significant mark on the European scene with this hardcore-punk bands The Setup and Thumbs Down, and was more than eager to join this whirlpool of creativity. Diablo Blvd, now a solid 5-piece, started bringing together their different backgrounds but common love for uplifting and refreshing music and found their knack in a mixture of old blues and pure rock'n roll. Inspired by the old blues singers and infused with an adoration for bands like Danzig and Guns 'N Roses, supported by Alex's deep and raging vocal timbre, Diablo Blvd came into their own and has been starting to win over the crowds ever since, one banging head at a time. Later, Yasmine was replaced on bass by Tim, who also plays the guitar with A Brand. Read more on Last.fm.
