Doug Hoyer is an art-pop act based out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Hoyer is a multi-instrumentalist and lauded songwriter whose live shows are often accompanied by large backing bands and faux-TED talk power point presentations. He has toured Canada several times coast to coast, with various backing bands and tour mates (such as Sean Nicholas Savage, Michael Rault, and Shotgun Jimmie). He has played festivals like Sled Island (opening for St. Vincent), the Halifax Pop Explosion, and MoSoFest. His first ep was entitled "Tattoo", and charted in many college stations across Canada. The always entertaining Henri "Faberge" Fletcher was kind enough to lend his trumpet and french horn skills to the recording. His Second EP, "Songs from Grand Marquee" was a mini concept album about a boy who falls asleep in the back of the #8 bus in Edmonton, only to have his dreams and memories fade together in song. In April, 2009, Doug pushed forward with a new, non-ukulele ep entitled "Busy, Busy, Busy", both a Kurt Vonnegut reference as much as it just reflects his busy life. A departure from his initial 'small' sound, this rock EP deals with teenage awkwardness, drunken romances and heartbreak. This album reflects his fun and engaging live show the best. He has since put out a side project album of 30 songs called Bike Month, and is currently working on his debut full length for Old Ugly Recording Co. Years ago in the summer of 2003 Doug was a cast member on the CBC reality "rockumentary" called "Rock Camp", a show that featured Joel Plaskett & Ian McGettigan (from Thrush Hermit), as well as many others. Doug has shared the stage with many different bands, of all sorts of genres, but a few of them have been: Bob Wiseman, The Rural Alberta Advantage, Library Voices, Wax Mannequin, The Faunts, Geoff Berner, The Burning Hell, the Superfantastics, Mohawk Lodge, Jenny Omnichord, Mt. Royal, Torngat and many many more. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
