Educated Animals are young four-piece hailing from Brighton, currently a real hot-bed for band-breeding; playing upbeat, electro-tinged, melodic, catchy indie tunes. Live they are at their best, putting great importance on each live performance. The band build all their own stage decoration such as light boxes and lit keyboard stands. Packed out, sweaty and buzzing gigs have given the band a reputation for being, without doubt, one of Brighton’s most exciting new bands. In recent months, Educated Animals have played alongside the likes of Tiny Dancers, The Courteeners, Scouting For Girls, The Ravonettes, The Dykeenies and many more… However, it’s the songs that impress most: an explosion of energy with fast beats, haunting guitars and catchy synth riffs that make the perfect combination. More importantly, the lead vocal of Jon Purchase captivates you instantly. Poetic, dreamy and yet down to earth lines – creating truly uplifting whilst thought-provoking music. Educated Animals are proud not to follow any particular style or hype – their love for clever pop music stands in the foreground of their dynamic compositions. The band have already found support in the likes of BBC 6Music’s Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson who played Timebomb on their shows. Equally, ‘Timebomb’ was chosen by Channel 4 and the producers of Hollyoaks to be the introducing soundtrack to a recent episode. The band’s inbox burst with enthusiastic fanmail, and Myspace plays of the single increased dramatically as a result. Joining the DIY movement, this single was recorded in their home-studio, and is being self-released by the band on their recently set up label; Animal Records. Educated Animals have found fantastic regional support, being featured on local radio stations BBC Southern Counties and Juice FM on a regualr basis – both have playlisted ‘Timebomb’. The band heavily support the Brighton band scene and participate at local events such as Brighton Fringe Festival, Beachdown festival and Brighton Live Week. In addition to the band’s music, Animal Club; the band’s own monthly club night (which they headline regularly), has become one of Brighton’s most packed out secret indie top tips, and is growing with dedicated followers continuously… Educated Animals started their night 2 years ago. The idea is to have a cheap weekend night out for friends and fans, with a great line-up of the best local bands. So popular that it sells out every time – the floor has almost collapsed at points, with an over capacity venue jumping up and down with excitement. Read more on Last.fm.
