Since the group started in 2005, and the release of their self-titled debut in 2007, the Norwegians EL CUERO have been working their way into people’s consciousness as a natural sounding and unstoppable band, both live and on record. Receiving great critics for their first album, the band has sold some 3000 copies. Impressing sales in Norway for an underground rock band, and numbers that has laid a solid foundation for their next release. “EL CUERO” was recorded in just over a week, live in the studio with no compromises, and released on their own label, Gravel Road Music. With close to 15 years of playing together for brothers Brynjar and Håvard, and all of the guys touring in different settings over the years, this group is already an experienced live band with a great authority on stage. A natural and organic combo that raises modern rock to new levels with more than a nod back to the great traditions of rock. EL CUERO combines the straightforward melodic sense of Steve Earle with beautiful Californian harmonies, and the madness of Neil Young & Crazy Horse in their wildest, most out-there moments. This creates some great contrasts, from mellow acoustic tunes to mammoth electric solo workouts, often entering into some dark and heavy rock territories along the way. Always eager to explore new grounds and fresh ways to entertain themselves and the audience, this is a one-of-a-kind genuine and authoritative act with powerful vocals, great soloing and a blue-collar, working class backing trio. On their second album “A GLIMMER OF HOPE”, EL CUERO deliver songs from their whole musical spectrum, from hard rock via stratospheric, powerful and dirty power country, to honest Americana ballads. The record is elegant and spontaneous, with a wonderful live feeling to it. This is a result of the band’s desire to capture the moment with each song, by playing live - recording the whole band together in one room at the same time. This retro approach, combined with a fresh sound, is just one of the things that give El Cuero the unique sound they are quite alone to possess in Norway today. “A GLIMMER OF HOPE” is produced by EL CUERO and the renowned Norwegian guitarist and producer Lars Håvard Haugen in Parachute Studio, Oslo, and mixed by the wonderful Mike Hartung. The album was released in Norway october 6'th. El Cuero is also releasing “A GLIMMER OF HOPE” on vinyl, which will also be available in October. The release of the new album will be followed by an extensive tour throughout the fall of 2008 and early 2009. Although the release and tour is set for Norway, the band is currently working on the international market as its natural next step. El Cuero is: Brynjar Takle Ohr - Guitar, vokals & piano Øyvind Blomstrøm - Guitar, pedalsteel, piano & backing vokal Tommy Reite - Bassguitar Håvard Takle Ohr - Drums & backing vokal Read more on Last.fm.
