One of the most mysterious groups from the French experimental underground of the early '70s, Fille Qui Mousse was a leftist political collective led by journalist (Le Parapluie) musician and most of all painter Henri-Jean Enu. Other members included Daniel Hoffmann, Dominique et Jean-Pierre Lentin, Léo Sab et François Guildon. They were musically as radical as the German band Faust, and utilized similar studio trickery. And their one album never got properly released, so that they might have been completely forgotten if not for being included on the influential Nurse With Wound list of influences in the early '80s. In 1971 they obtained a record deal with the legendary Futura label, which had mostly released avant-jazz at that time but were expanding into more experimental rock. The record was recorded in the summer of 1971, most likely in one day, and then mixed in December of that same year. Over a year passed before about a dozen test pressings of the record were made in early 1973. Unfortunately, Futura was having financial problems at the time and these 10 or 12 copies were all that existed, becoming one of the most rare, sought, and yet virtually unobtainable LPs of French avant-rock. In spring 1996, Gabriel Ibos of Spalax Music, who was rereleasing then a big part of the french experimental scene contacted Henri-Jean Enu in order to release an official CD version of the legendary album and never officialy released before "Trixie Stapleton 291 - Se Taire Pour Une Femme Trop Belle". Henri-Jean Enu who had mostly forgot about his short musical activity still considered himself proprietary of the material as, 25 years later, it had still not been released by the original producer Gérard Terronès. He thus signed a license agreement with Spalax Music in his own name, considering that the recent unofficial CD release on Mellow Records was OK and approved it as master. He then added titles to the tracks and planned to illustrate the cover with an original painting, which he never did. Instead was used the only existing photo of Fille Qui Mousse, coming from Enu's journal "Le Parapluie" (on the photo: Henri-Jean Enu, Denis Gheerbrandt, Barbara Lowengreen). This was the official "artist release" before the final/definitive "producer official release" by Terronès/Fractal, which came three years later (featuring more material, information, etc.), and without any contact with Enu or any of the other original members.
