THERE ARE TWO ARTISTS NAMED FLINT EASTWOOD MICHIGAN - Flint Eastwood is the hottest up-and-coming band in the Detroit music scene. Recent dates with Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., X Ambassadors, the Suicide Machines, Robert DeLong, Stepdad, Jamaican Queens, and many more have launched them to the forefront of Michigan music, and their explosive brand of live performance will permeate the Midwest and beyond in 2014. Having recently released their debut EP, "Late Nights In Bolo Ties", the band plans to hit the road next year, and never look back. ARKANSAS - Flint Eastwood is composed of rapper/singer front man Malik Flint, guitarist Marcus Meier, Drummer Philip Cottingham, Bassist Tyler Inmon and Synth/Keyboardist Jon-Michael Harper. Flint Eastwood is Rock/Rap. They take influence from bands and artists such as Kid Cudi, Big K.R.I.T, Beach House, Rage Against The Machine, The Roots, and more. In 2011, guitarist Marcus Meier was substituting at his old high school in Bryant, AR. One of his students was 18 year old rapper Malik Flint. Flint informed Meier that he was in need of a guitarist and a drummer for an upcoming hip-hop gig with his then rap group, The Weekend Warriors. Meier agreed to play the gig and decided to call up former band mate and drummer, Philip Cottingham about playing drums. After a few rehearsals, they played the show adding a hip hop/rock fusion sound to The Weekend Warriors performance. A few weeks later Flint decided to separate from The Weekend Warriors and work solely on his solo career. Flint, Meier, and Cottingham then started writing and playing together on a regular basis, recreating some Flint’s solo productions and molding them into melodic, riff heavy, hip-hop songs. Wanting to take the group step further, Meier contacted his cousin Tyler Inmon about playing bass. Armed with the essential pieces of a rock band, they started playing at local venues with their newly formed sound. The group then decided that a keyboardist could add an extra dynamic to their equation. Inmon contacted childhood friend and former band mate Jon-Michael Harper about playing keys. Flint Eastwood was formed. Toying with frontman Malik Flint’s last name, Cottingham’s mother joking mentioned Flint Eastwood, and the name stuck. The band members vary in age from 20 to 27, and all come from different musical backgrounds Read more on Last.fm.
