Fox and the Bird is a folk/rock band based in Dallas, Texas with songs that are poetically simple but musically complex. There's a seemingly timeless quality to the songwriting. They blend guitar-based compositions with folk and orchestral instrumentation to create roots music with resonance. Fox and the Bird draws its energy from gang vocals and layered harmonies for a sound that's communal for both musician and audience alike. The band began in the living room of Dan and Kelsey Bowman, the husband and wife team that are the backbone of Fox and the Bird. Travis Lawrence (of Addison Road), Wheeler Sparks, Daniel t. Hall (of Comrade, the Beaten Sea) and Ray Weyandt began collaborating on music soon thereafter, contributing to what began to resemble a small folk choir. With home as a central theme to their lyrical catalogue, it’s no wonder the Fox and the Bird first came together through the Dallas house show scene, and the famed Annex house. The band continues to produce and self-release its albums, touring from time to time and always committed to music that is made on back porches, in living rooms and on the streets.
