Frankie & The Heartstrings are a 5-piece band from Sunderland, Northeast, United Kingdom. Their first single, 'Hunger/Fragile' was released at the beginning of 2010. According to Songfacts, the song title and lyrics of 'Hunger' pay homage to the Norwegian author Knut Hamsun's 1890 semi-autobiographical novel Hunger, which describes a young writer's descent into near madness as a result of famine, poverty and homelessness. The band's debut album Hunger was released on 21 February 2011 in the UK. http://www.myspace.com/frankietheheartstrings On 15 October 2012 they released the single I Still Follow You as a free download via their website. Their second album, The Days Run Away, was released on 27th May 2013. The band opened their own record store, Pop Recs Ltd, in Sunderland on June 1st 2013. Pop Recs Ltd will be more than a record shop, but an all encompassing exhibition, performance and social space. Local and national artists and musicians alike will be the prime focus to Pop Recs Ltd, with the aim to bring vibrancy, creativity and a real sense of community to the North East.
