Gastronomical unit was formed in 1991 at Penn State University by a group of friends who decided to make a Christmas album. They have continued to make albums every other year, with the membership varying from year to year. The early albums are unobtainable, although a significant amount of the material was available on the original MP3.com. Holiday Feast #1 is a sort of "best of" collection of the earlier material. Gastronomical Unit's music consists of send-ups of beloved Christmas classics, wacky original pieces, and occasional serious work. The band's official site is www.gastrounit.com.
