1) Gripper spent his younger years playing in garage punk bands, splicing together funk, disco and electro tapes, and listening to pirate soul stations and early New York mix tapes. Throw in long, late night listening sessions with John Peel and The Old Grey Whistle Test as company, and it’s no surprise that he soon embarked on an obsessive mission to collect vinyl from a diverse musical spectrum. His album 'A Life Of Consummate Ease' [released on ATIC, July 2008] reflects Gripper’s passion for soul-based music from across the alternative spectrum, taking in beats, breaks, hip hop, psych, soul, funk, Latin, electronica, dub and deep house. 2) Also a hardcore punk band in New Zealand.
