There have been at least seven bands who have used the name Horses. 1) Horses is a Belgian five-piece indie band, fronted by singer-songwriter Bert Vliegen. A self-titled EP was released in 2010, and in october 2013 the debut full-length 'Clear Crystal Air' came out on PIAS Recordings. 2) Horses was a Los Angeles country psych group who released a single record for White Whale Records in 1969. The group was instigated by songwriters John Carter and Tom Gilbert, who had found previous success with the group Strawberry Alarm Clock. Inspiration for Horses came from popular west coast groups such as Moby Grape, Buffalo Springfield and The Byrds, who were taking psychedelic rock and merging it with traditional American musical stylings. Horses consisted of Don Johnson (of Miami Vice fame) on vocals, Dave Torbert on bass, Matt kelly on guitar and harmonica, Scott Quigley on lead guitar, and Chris Herold on drums. Due to a lack of promotion, two lost singles and internal band conflict, the group broke up following a single album, which has become an extremely obscure collector's item. Revola Records reissued the eponymous Horses album in 2003 with bonus tracks gathered from Carter and Gilbert's earlier project, a failed psychedelic pop group called the Rainy Daze. 3) Horses is a six piece band based in Gothenburg, Sweden. In a cool mix of hot riffs and licks, blues vibes and calmer tunes that make you wanna cry your heart and soul out, they touch their audience. 4) Horses is also a rock band made up of three guys of punk and indie rock backgrounds from Cape Breton, NS, though they currently reside in Toronto. Informed by spending their formative years in various discordant, DIY pursuits, the resulting music is stripped down and honest, reflecting a storytelling songwriting tradition that emphasizes the experiences of everyday people. These characters fall in love, think about death, and make choices that can be desperate and hopeful at the same time. The music underscoring these stories is as unrefined and angular as it is melodic and anthemic in attempting be as direct as possible in its delivery. 5) Horses was a band formed by Dan Caldas, Hugh McElroy, and Mike Kanin from Black Eyes and Fiona Griffin from Et At It in 2004. An EP titled '4 5 6 7' was sold on a weekend tour with Q and not U, Food For Animals, and Manhunter. Three unreleased tracks were made available through Ruffian Records after the band's dissolution. 6)Band of Horses changed their name from Horses to said name a few months after forming. 7) Was a band consisting of ex Bluebird member Patrick Everman who resides in Spokane, Washington who played under the moniker HORSES.
