I Am David Sparkle

Singapore, 2001 – Present Having started out as an improvisational band in 2001, this collective has been one of the pioneers of the instrumental music scene here in Singapore. Inspired by the landscapes of life, love and beauty, I AM DAVID SPARKLE writes music that encompasses and demonstrates the myriad of human emotions through journeys of musical movements. The absence of words in the music does not mean that words have lost their meaning; rather, the words themselves are to be imagined by the listener. I AM DAVID SPARKLE has supported the ‘Tesseract’, ‘RNDM’, ‘BayBeats’ series of shows/festivals over the course of the past 7 years. In 2007, I AM DAVID SPARKLE took to the bigger stage for regional festivals ‘Good Vibrations 2007’ ‘Recharge Revelations 5 Global Gatherings’ and saw the year out with ‘ZoukOut 2007’. Recently in 2008, the band opened for Japanese instrumental quartet Mono in Singapore. In March 2009, I Am David Sparkle was the only band selected from Singapore to showcase at the reknowned South By Southwest Music Festival (SXSW 2009) in Austin, Texas. Currently made up of members who have all served time in various acclaimed indie, punk and hardcore acts over the last 14 years, I AM DAVID SPARKLE self-released their debut EP ‘Apocalypse of Your Heart’ in Oct 2006 as a historical documentation of their older songs. Their debut full-length album ‘This Is The New’ was released in November 2007 under local imprint KittyWu Records.
