In 1994 Wieslaw and Rafal started a band under the name Conqueror which sounded similar to old Bathory, old Celtic Frost, and Possessed. Two years later, near the end of 1996 Conqueror changed the name to Iuvenes and the musical style changed as well. In December 1996 the demo "Sons of Mayhem" was recorded and published officially by Eastclan Records. On "Sons of Mayhem" there was nearly 30 minutes of dark and transcendental keyboard music. One year later the other demo "The Empyrean Call's of Wolves" was published. Four black/thrash compositions could be heard on it as well as a cover version of Bathory's "Raise the Dead". In 1997-2000 Iuvenes started working on their first full length album "Riddle of Steel" published by No Colours records. The music on this CD is a connection of epic anthems with a strong metal sound. It quickly gained acknowledgement in the underground. A short time after publishing "Riddle of Steel" Iuvenes began working on their second album "When Heroes Will Rise". Meanwhile No Colours published remastered versions of the two demos "Sons of Mayhem" and "The Empyrean Call's of Wolves" under the title "Empire of Iuvenes". In 2002 "When Heroes Will Rise" was published. This album had richer guitar arrangements than "Riddle of Steel". One year later No Colours published the "Live In Eternal Sin" split of Iuvenes with American one-man black metal band Leviathan. In Autumn 2003 Iuvenes began working on their third album "Towards Sources of Honour and Pride". "Towards Sources of Honour and Pride" was released in 2005 on No Colours records, it was a quintessence of Iuvenes' accomplishments. In 2006 Iuvenes released the EP "Triumph of the Will" on No Colours records. Contrary to popular belief the band's name is not Juvenes. This has been a misconception since "Riddle of Steel". The name is pronounced "You-wen-ace" not "Ju-ven-ace". Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
