Record label: Smog / Shift / Rubik / Simplify / Onset / Foreign Familiar / Gradient Audio / Peer Pressure / Sub Pressure / Gamma / Betamorph / Filthy Digital / Carbon Logic Kelly Dean is a Los Angeles-based electronic musician and DJ recognized by his productions in both dubstep and drum and bass, as well as his dance floor style remixes. His latest track Battlefield marks the tenth release published by SMOG, which hit stores in September 2011. Battlefield is currently topping Beatport charts accompanied by the equally successful remix on the flip side by France’s premier dubstep producer, Von D. Kelly Dean first gained exposure in 2008 with his drum and bass release Wait Up / Close Call (Rubik Records) with Calculon and Andy Sim. Following up with a stream of nine releases thereafter (eight influenced by dubstep), Kelly caught the attention of SMOG’s founder and landed a spot on their roster as resident artist and crew. In 2010, he collaborated with fellow SMOG talents Kemst and Steady on their first track Teflon, drafting booming chart positions along with its remixed version by prominent Canadian dubstep artists Excision & Datsik. Teflon received international support and airplay by 12th Planet, Plastician, BBC 1xtra and BBC Radio1. The release was also picked up by the Scion A/V label, which they featured on their Scion CD Sampler V.30 later that year. Kelly Dean has worked with Depone, Juakali, Phrenik, and Steady, and remixed works by Actraiser and The Widdler. His work has been remixed by Excision and Datsik, Von D, and a Australia’s Chewie (forthcoming Onset 2011). Additional forthcoming releases feature a co-production with Messinian titled Putting In Work / Can’t Help Myself (Simplify 2011), and a remix of Easy Now by New Zealand’s Olie Bassweight (aka DJ Evil) feat.
