Killaflaw consists of Benn Helm (vocals, guitar) and Andy Paton (keyboards, trumpet). In 2008, Killaflaw gained critical acclaim from BBC’s Tom Robinson, Kerrang!’s Emma Scott and XFM’s Eddy Temple-Morris. Temple-Morris stated that the band are “the missing link between Soundgarden and The Prodigy” and continues to vigorously support them. This was manifest when ‘Revolution’ won XFM’s Demo of the Year award for 2008. They also won an award with Liverpool’s Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) and were selected by Fran Healy of Travis to appear on the EP ‘Play. Stop. Rewind. They have garnered praise from The Prodigy's Liam Howlett, who is a fan of the band and have also collaborated with Shunda K of Yo!Majesty, Losers, Ed Cosens of Reverend and the Makers amongst others. Killaflaw have gigged alongside the likes of Chase and Status, The Whip, Japanese Popstars, Losers, Alabama 3 and Phil Hartnoll of Orbital. The key festival performance of 2009 was The Secret Garden Party in July, which was described as one of the highlights of the event. The band successfully completed its first official UK tour in October 2009, including showcase MTV, BBC and Filter Magazine shows. In November 2009, Killaflaw released Set Me On Fire on A Perfect Noise. It reached the number 1 spots in the US DMC Main Chart and House Chart and stayed there for several weeks. Techno legends Utah Saints also produced an exclusive remix of this track. In 2010, Killaflaw played at several UK music festivals including Glastonbury and were joined by former Pendulum and Apollo 440 drummer Paul Kodish on temporary basis for several shows. Killaflaw continue to gig in some of London 's best venues including Camden 's Club NME Night at Koko and Club Remix at Proud. They have completed their debut album ‘Sleaze and Grit’ which Temple-Morris said on first listen: “file with the debuts of Prodigy, Oasis and Kasabian.” Dave Pemberton, who has worked with the likes of Faithless, Orbital, Prodigy and Kasabian provided mixing and additional production expertise on the album. In a recent interview in the UK’s DJ Magazine, they said: “Killaflaw have the passion, the soul, the raw power and the tunes. They’re gonna be massive”. There are few acts worldwide that convincingly create and deliver such a crossover sound as Killaflaw and that can be evidenced by the makeup of their current fan base. Fans of everyone from Slayer through to Hot Chip find something in the sound that they can associate with and enjoy. Read more on Last.fm.
