Kirsten & Marie are two 21 year old twins from Denmark. Bright and beautiful vocal harmonies & chromatically playful chord-changes constitute the soundscape for this duo's songs. Kirsten & Marie has released the single 'My Dear' - a beautiful song about childhood love. Their signature vocal harmonies fits Kirsten's guitar perfectly and the single is radiant with sisterly love, an infectious joy of playing music and an undeniable musical talent creating a rarely heard organic expression. 'My Dear' was accompanied by a lovely video by Andreas Munksgaard, Penelope Neugarten og Aske Zidore. take a look here: http://vimeo.com/10822900 Now the twins are ready to release their first EP which is simply called 'Kirsten & Marie'. The EP is produced by Aske Zidore and has been recorded over an intense week at various Danish churches and in Oh No Ono's studio. ”Kirsten & Marie” is a release for all of us who value Vashti Bunyan's fragile sound, Joanna Newsom's grace, Joni Mitchell's guitar playing & Nico's medlodies. But most of all Kirsten & Marie are just Kirsten & Marie - even though you often dream youself away to a “Wicker Man”-like place of rituals and idyll. As a listener you cannot avoid being struck by Kirsten & Marie's ability to make emotional depth, complex musical compositions, presence and extremely catchy melodies come together as one organic expression. And the fact that they've only composed music since the summer of 2009 only underlines their incredible talent. For your listening pleasure. The EP consists of 2 songs: 'Running', 'My Dear' & 'Cracked Lips', here's what Kirsten & Marie have to say about their music: ’Running’ ”The church where we recorded the song was extremely cold (it was in february), so we lit candles all over the place to keep ourselves warm. The original title was 'Running From My Shadow' and that's what the song is really about. The verse and the bass stumbles and tumbles on and on until they come together in the chorus, where they somehow meet each other in a very nice and freeing way” ’My Dear’ "..Is full of life and it has a playful sound. It's simply about the rather complicated theme: love ... or perhaps childhood love. We couldn't stop dancing after we heard what Aske (Zidore) had done with the production." ’Cracked Lips’ ”This is a song that we're really fond of. It's a song about how time flies by. Cracked Lips came to life when Kirsten was messing around with some beatiful chords on a lonely 2009 summer night. Our american friend had written a poem (cracked lips) which later evolved into our first song ever. 'Kirsten & Marie' is released by Tambourhinoceros, a group of artistically skilled enthusiasts. Tambourhinoceros is an entity, conducted by Kristoffer Rom & Aske Zidore, through which art can evolve and be communicated to the audience. Each release is something special and needs special care, which is an essential approach for Tambourhinoceros. The distance between artist and listener should be as short as possible and Tambourhinoceros is there to create the best possible conditions for each release. Read more on Last.fm.
