In 1986, Kristie Rose was fronting a band called Kristi Rose and the Midnight Walkers, pitching her high-octane swamp honky-tonk to an East Village fan base of bikers, punks and drag queens. In 1989 they did great performance at the 'Parkpop' festival in the Hague, the Netherlands. In 1999, Rose released the powerful alt-country album "Pulp Country" and, and in 2002, the impressive live album "Kristi Rose Live in Holland." In recent years she has continued to perform and record, primarily with her husband, multi-instrumentalist Fats Kaplin. There is a new album scheduled to be released sometime in 1014. Rose's powerful and passionate delivery is influenced by both the great country divas such as Patsy Cline and Wanda Jackson and and singers such as Nina Simone and Patti Smith. Kaplin, who has played for performers as diverse as Garth Brooks and Jack White, adds a range of musical styles including bluegrass, middle eastern, and flamenco. Kristi Rose lives in Nashville.
