After her departure from UK television talent show group Hear'say in 2002, Kym launched a solo career with two top 10 singles "Cry" and "Come on Over". The next release "Sentimental" was less succesful, although the accompanying album "Standing Tall" reached the top 10 in the UK album charts. She subsequently entered into a well-documented celebrity marriage with actor Jack Ryder. She also entered the 2006 UK Eurovision contest (Making Your Mind Up) but failed to get selected, despite entering arguably one of that years stronger songs called "Whisper To Me". The heat was won by Daz Sampson with "Teenage Life". Kym has successfully made the transition from singer to actress. She is currently (2006 to date) playing the character of Michelle Connor, a barmaid in the long-running UK TV soap "Coronation Street" - a role which has garnered a number of prestigious British TV acting awards for the star.
