Hailing from the dead end suburbs of south London, Lion Club were formed October 2007 in vortex of small-town boredom and mutual disgust for thestate of British music and youth culture. Their hatred of vacuous 24hour party England and the dumb un-politicized breezier swilling life style that surrounded them forged their initial bond. Plus, witnessing the demise of the indie scene as it was infiltrated, bought, and put on a easy jet to Ibiza, has sparked their musical stand. Lion Club are the complete antithesis of landfill indie culture and Hollyoaks guitar pop. They play epic rock songs of heartache and despair, joy and optimism. Irony is put to death on the sword of real issues that consume them with passion. Huge soundscapes of emotive soaring chords interwoven with languid pleading melodies and occasionally tinted with the chants of the terraces. Lion Club cut their teeth playing to their peers with regular shows on the all-ages circuit, building a feverish following. To date they have also notched up supports with Friendly Fires, Sam Sparrow, Glasvegas, White Lies, Johnny Foreigner, Lo Fi Culture Scene, and Bombay Bicycle Club, and have shows coming up this autumn with Crystal Castles, Florence and the Machine, Midnight Juggernauts and Cajun Dance Party.
