Mahmed is an instrumental band from Natal, northeast of Brazil, with a wide range of influences, from electronic and experimental music to noisy rock. Their sound is very intriguing and creates a chill atmospehere that makes you feel very calm, as a good breeze. Maybe it is due to their strong connection with the sea and their beautiful city. Their first material was released in May 2013, the EP "Domínio das Águas e dos Céus". It was responsible for putting Mahmed in the map of the best releases of that year, followed by performances in several festivals around the country, such as DoSol, Natal Instrumental and Campus Festival. In 2014, the quartet took an year off to prepare their first full-length, recorded and produced by themselves at their home studios. "Sobre A Vida Em Comunidade" sounds like John Frusciante spent weeks relaxing in brazilian beaches, surfing and listening to a lot of dream pop and Tortoise. The themes created in this record are catchy and very easy listening, rich guitar tones and a groovy bass swinging along with the drums, giving the certain amount space to silence. The distant vocals and interludes bring a special flavour to the material. It is definitely a sound that represents the goodvibe coming from Dimetrius, Walter, Leandro and Ian, specially live.
