Maladanza

Maladanza is the ensemble from Spain. Maladanza began its journey in Calahorra in the spring of 1999 in response to the interest of its components in early music and playing instruments such as hurdy time, the psaltery, rebec, the sitar and so on. Thus, the group begins to gather material in order to adapt the instruments developed to date, respecting the melody but reject the changes or nuances in the structures of the issues and the interpretation of the voices, to try to achieve final product as closely as possible. The repertoire Maladanza Arabo-Andalusian music find, Cantigas de Santa Maria, dances and songs as well as medieval and Renaissance songs, romances and songs of the Sephardic heritage. Fourteen of these issues were reflected in a Box studio album (Madrid) in March 2002, with the help of Eugenio Muñoz. Malade offers a varied repertoire concerts as far as thematic concerns, trying to enhance the performance issues introduced with a brief explanation of content, features and historical context to promote understanding of it. So far most of its activities have focused on La Rioja, Navarra and Aragon. Since October 2007, and parallel to the type of activity so far, Maladaar has collaborated to several organizations dedicated to the theater, including "Smoke Collective" of Tudela, who accompanied him on his show "On the way to you story, "illustrating with live music interpretation of the work. So sometimes also accompanies the group "Teatro Mamarro" dedicated to entertainment events and providing background music medieval markets to them. In this way it has responded to the interest of the group to diversify its work and present it in open spaces. Currently the group is immersed in the preparation of their second album "The field of Benesat" A people two cultures, an album that aims to unite Maladaar Christian and Jewish cultures through music.
