In early 2006, critical acclaim for the ‘Mark Timothy EP’ lead to a series of live performances and radio sessions on both sides of the Atlantic before spring had fully blossomed and soon after, Mark began work on his debut long-player Falling For You. In doing so he soon expanded his sound and line up to a full five piece band. By taking this classic rock band line up of two guitars, bass, drums and keys and adding a full string section on five of the tracks on ‘Falling For You’, the direction that Mark Timothy is moving in musically becomes obvious. While still remaining strongly driven by the scene set on the ‘Mark Timothy EP’ on tracks such as Please Forgive Me, I Hear… and Little Boy (a new version for the album), a more expansive rock-driven band sound has emerged, which is especially apparent on tracks such as the fantastic Falling, stand out track, Leaving Me and Hold On. Whilst musically the album has firm nods to Coldplay, sonic soundscapes a la Pink Floyd, lyrical masterpieces such as those produced by current pop highflyers KT Tunstall and Pink, some will also spot reference to the likes of the Goo Goo Dolls and beyond, Timothy still remains true to his own musical starting point. 2008 looks like being an exciting year for Mark Timothy, with the release of the hook heavy follow up single ‘Falling’ in early January, and his full album moving towards a release soon after, this is one singer-songwriter worth being able to say, I’ve been a fan for years..
