Mel Dune has been described as the perfect antidote for a world going faster everyday. Intimate poetry and honest music, while you're wandering around, searching for your lost soul. A fragile voice, that's been compared with the young Marianne Faithfull and Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star, singing songs that remind you of Johnny Cash and the early Tom Waits. Singer Bieke Verstegen and songwriter Jan Myny started working together in 2003. After recording 'Crawling & Falling' in a 3 to 4 bedroom, they ran into producer HT Roberts. He fell in love with their music and a few months later, during the summer of 2004, they recorded 'Trying to get back home'. This was the first healty collaboration with other musicians such as Bruno Deneckere and Nils De Caster. From 2005 on they did quite a few gigs. Amongst others Mel Dune played at 't Folk Dranouter, De Vooruit Gent, Krakrock Avelgem, ... In 2006 director Koen Mortier layed his hands upon some new demos. The song 'Time hangs heavy on your hands' reminded him so much of 'Blue Velvet' by David Lynch, he decided to use it for the soundtrack of 'Ex drummer'. A movie based on a novel by one of Belgium's most famous writers, Herman Brusselmans. 2007 will be reminded as the year Mel Dune released their debut album. Surrounded by some fellow musicians they got back to HT Roberts analogue 'Long house studio'. Niels Delvaux on drums, HT Roberts on bass and lots of other instruments, Bart Maris blew his trumpet, Gijs Hollebosch played dobro, Pedro De Bruyckere added a little electric guitar and Nils Decaster played some violin. This self-titled debut will be released on Indie label 'Misty Music House' in March 2007. To be continued... Check out www.meldune.com or www.myspace.com/meldune Read more on Last.fm.
