5 years after the formation of the legendary crew Krush Posse, Dj Muro and DJ Krush parted ways in 1992 and while Krush went on to become one of the most legendary DJ's in the world, Muro formed Microphone Pager which still remains the most influential group for Japanese rappers ever. MC's Dj Muro, Twigy, Masao, P.H. and DJ Go formed the group right after Krush Posse's break-up and after already being the leading figure in the Japanese hip-hop scene, Muro and Microphone Pager became the first Japanese hip-hop group to ever appear on an American hip-hop compilation album. The album 'Planet Rap' (released in 1993 under Tommy Boy) featured one of Pager's early hits [Kaisei Kaishi (Phillies Mix)] which also became one of their last with the original line-up when Masao, P.H. and DJ Go disbanded from the group during the recording sessions for their first album a month after the success. Dealing with the absence of the original roster, Muro and Twigy decided to continue as Microphone Pager and even after all the drama, the group with the now 2 MC's released an alltime classic [Don't Forget To My Men] before the end of 1993. Receiving back-up from producers DJ Go and DJ Krush, Pager released the classic single [Street Life] a year later that influenced many of todays rappers and the whole hip-hop nation in Japan for what would later on be called the start of the real Japanese hip-hop music and mentality. Continuing with the group in July of 1995 after numerous groundbreaking releases and after being the number one group in Japan for 2 years already, Microphone Pager put out one of Japanese hip-hops early classics [Dont Turn Off Your Light] which took the whole game to a new level in term of rhymes, flow and production values. Smooth as well as street knowledgeable, Mic Pager with their smooth production as well as their funky and unbeatable flow inspired the future groups such as キングギドラ (King Giddra), Soul Scream and Buddha Brand in the years to come, making [Dont Turn Off Your Light] one of the turning points in the history. While Muro and Twigy had already started on concentrating on their solo careers after the release of [Don't Turn Off Your Light] the pager saga continued in September of 1997 when the duo released their self titled Best Of Microphone Pager consisting of their early classics such as [Don't Forget To My Men] (1993), [Street Life] (1994) and [Microphone Pager] (1993). The album was a testament to the whole hip-hop culture in Japan showing the huge influence the group gave to the whole scene at a time when hip-hop was not yet grown to its real roots in Japan and defining the meaning of Japanese hip-hop as a positive thing for the youth. After the release of the self titled best of album, Muro and Twigy decided to fully concentrate on their solo careers even though they still featured on each others works on the years to come. What makes Muro and Twigy legends in Japan is the fact that Microphone Pager was responsible for changing the image of Japanese rap from a copycat variety show to a real hip-hop scene with individuality and Japanese mentality that still even today inspire new rappers and people.
