November Coming Fire emerged out of the Canterbury Hardcore scene in Kent, England, in 2001 and quickly became one of the most respected bands of the scene through their intense live shows and debut MCD Black Ballads (released 2003). The MCD itself didn't do anything particularly original, but it did show to those who listened how passionate and dedicated November Coming Fire are as a band, and the hard work they put into the album and touring earnt them support slots with bands such as Converge, Terror and Give up the Ghost. After a whole year of touring, November Coming Fire set upon their real aim; to be a unique and original Hardcore band. Confiding in a massive range of influences ranging over the last 25 years of alternative music, November Coming Fire set upon writing their first full-album Dungeness. On this record, they took all the energy and potential from Black Ballads and threw it against a much more diverse, and essentially, progressive backdrop, until this hate filled yet strangely sensitive record was released. Dungeness, for those who don't know, is a seaside town in Kent, which is also known as "The end of the World". It's depressive yet haunting surroundings were one of the main influences for what is, essentially a concept album. The album is full of riffs and rhythms that pay homage to an impressive amount of bands, and although it's aura and sound is fairly bleak, they still manage to come away with a record that is challenging and overall, uplifting. Due to their harsh sound, some have snubbed this band out as "just another generic metalcore band" but as more critics and more fans who are willing to listen turn their heads, NCF simply continue to prove themselves as an honest, intelligent and passionate band who are very glad to be where they are. At Christmas 2006, NCF recorded what would be their last three tracks with long term collaborator Ben Phillips. "Pyxis Nautica' ended up on the bands would-be next record label Holy Roar's limited Christmas Tape in 2007, while 'Return of the Black Dog' and a cover of Murder City Devils' 'Bear Away' were released on a split seven inch single with tour buddies Gallows on the Leeds based label 30 Days Of Night. November Coming Fire decided to split up in August 2007 after 6 years as a band. Members now play in The Sans Pareil, Cosmic Thoughts and Black Shapes. Read more on Last.fm.
