Oleg Ponomarev is a multi-instrumentalist (violin, bass, piano, guitar, singer), composer, arranger, producer. Born into a large Gypsy family in Khabarovsk, Russia 1964. All of Ponomarev's family were musicians and he received his first musical education from his Grandparents (both graduates of the Moscow Conservatory) and his mother singer, Valentina Ponomareva. Ponomarev later studied at Central Music School and Gnesinka Music College in Moscow. He toured with Djang, a Russian Gypsy Orchestra. Then later, between 1990 - 2000, with Russian Gypsy Band Loyko, recording more than twenty albums. He has (or does) also play with Koshka, the Hot Club of Dublin, Orchestra of the Scottish Opera and has worked with Caroline Moreau. Oleg Ponomarev is currently settled in Ireland.
