One Night Suzan was a greek indiepop band influenced mainly by Creation Records, The Go-Betweens, Prefab Sprout, The Pale Fountains, The Smiths, and The Jesus and Mary Chain. They formed in 1989 by Zissimos, a.k.a. The Crooner, (lead guitar/vocals), George Kiriazis (lead vocals/guitar), Dimitris Konstantelos (bass) and Thomas Peppas (drums). The band’s trumpeter was Christos, while Dimitris F. played saxophone. The name of the band is taken after a character in an Andy Warhol movie, when someone heard “One Night Suzan” instead of “One Eyed Suzan”. It was them, who inspired and motivated the team behind a couple of fanzines in Greece (In Those Days and Little Charmer) to start a label called Innocent. The times were hard and money was lacking so Innocent had to release tapes. One Night Suzan’s Autumn Falls was the first Innocent Label release.(the tracks included in this cassette only release were : in my dream, until, postcards, pop song, don't let them kill our taste, autumn falls) Although they had plenty of material in demos, they only managed to release one 7” vinyl called “Don’t Let Them Kill Our Taste” on Greek This Happy Feeling label in 1994. They are remembered for their powerful live shows in Greece both in pop festivals with other greek groups or as a supporting act of bigger names. They split up after supporting the Devine Comedy in 1997. One Night Suzan appeared also in Shelflife’s compilations, i.e. on Picninc Basket with Why Don't You?, on Whirl-Wheels with Alcohol Future Beat and on You Make Me Smile with Billy Liar . Try A Little Sunshine features Autumn Falls and Is It True. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
