The first release from jazzlotion is from the Peter Edwards Trio, performing four of Peter's original compositions. The line-up is Peter Edwards - piano, Saleem Raman - drums and Max Luthert - double bass. A little about Peter Edwards....one of the most exciting young talents on the British jazz scene today. A pianist and composer with a Masters in Jazz from Trinity College and an alumni of the Tomorrow’s Warriors artistic development programme, he has already established a growing reputation as a bandleader, musical director, composer and arranger. Peter is a member of Rhythmica and has two compositions ‘Solace’ and ‘Anthem’ on their debut album. He tours with Abram Wilson’s Quartet and accompanies and arranges for vocalists Nicola Emmanuelle and Zara McFarlane, and recently worked with poet Lemn Sissay and double bassist Gary Crosby on ‘Population’ which was performed at the Southbank Centre in Summer 2010. Peter is the musical director of the newly formed Tomorrow’s Warriors Jazz Orchestra and recreated Duke Ellington’s masterpiece ‘The Queen’s Suite’. He also wrote his own suite ‘Above and Beyond the Horizon’ for TWJO and both works were performed at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in July 2009. Peter Edwards creates dynamic compositions, which skillfully combine shifting time feels and impressionistic melodic lyricism. Read more on Last.fm.
