There are three artists listed as “Poem” on Last.fm. 1) Poem is a four-piece progressive rock/metal group based in Athens, Greece, that was formed by George Prokopiou, George Anagnostou and Kamil Kamieniecky . Since the band was founded in 2006, they’ve gone through some changes in the line-up and now consist of George Prokopiou (vocals/guitar), Laurence Zervas Bergström (lead guitar), Stratos Haidos (bass) and Stauros Rigos (drums). With a wide range of influences and a love for experimentation, Poem embarked on a sound adventure defining their personal style from the very first songs. The four members have varied musical backgrounds, which they bring into the studio and rehearsals, creating music that none of them could compose on their own. The attitude nurtured is not paying too much attention to idiomatic aspects of style and experimenting with different sounds and rhythmic patterns. Jamming freely is not only a liberating process for each member separately, but also a very unifying process for the band. In December 2008 Poem recorded their debut album “The Great Secret Show”. Their style of music can be classified as both progressive and alternative rock, with alternative metal undertones. Major influences of the band include Tool, Soundgarden, Pink Floyd, Meshuggah, Opeth, Pain of Salvation, Jeff Buckley, King Crimson, and Pearl Jam. Poem’s potential is best reflected in their live performances. Taking part at many concerts in Athens and other major greek cities, they became quickly one of the best rock live acts around the country. Opening acts for Ozzy Osbourne, Pain of Salvation, Paradise Lost, Burst, Mekong Delta, and Cilice, among others, have broadened the band’s enthusiastic fan base. At the moment, the band is writing new songs for the follow-up to their debut. 2) An rock band headed by multi-instrumentalist Matthew Gilbert, from Arizona, USA. 3) Poem were a melodic death/thrash band from Gothenburg, Sweden.
