Praye is made up of Eugene Baah, Steven Fiawoo, and Nana Kwame. Eugene is also known as Azorpete and Praye hO ne hO (in between), Steven Fiawoo is known as Big J and Praye tiatia (short) while nana Kwame is known as Kente and Praye tenten (tall). Praye means 'broom' in English and even though figuratively, a broom is used to refer to unity, this group insists they chose the name because they want to sweep away social vices from their society. They got their big break into the music scene by emerging victorious in NESCAFE's African Revelations pop contest, where they placed first in Ghana, and won the West Africa competition as well. They rode the success of their hits Shordy, Efie ne fie, and Lasupadora (named after a popular Spanish telenovela shown in Ghana) to a Kora award for best group from West Africa. They are known for their funny lyrics and even though they are normally classified under hiplife, they are more of an African pop group, combining rhythm and blues, pop and rap music. Their lyrics and videos are also very funny. Some of their songs are Medo wo, Courage brother, Kooko ase krakye, Odo, Somebody dey carry my wife, etc. Read more on Last.fm.
