The original lineup for the rap ensemble 3rd Bass featured rappers Pete Nice (born Pete Nash), MC Serch, and DJ Richie Rich (born Richard Lawson), the group's lone African American. When Serch split in 1992, Nice and Rich tried it as a duo. Their 1993 debut Dust to Dust failed to equal the success of 3rd Bass.
