Garrett Devoe is an American songwriter, who performs and records under the moniker Pure Horsehair. Usually performing solo and recording by means of vintage, outdated or budget equipment, centered around acoustic guitar and vocals. Garrett was born in Fort Huachuca, AZ and raised in Mechanicville, NY, influenced and confounded early on by a found 8track copy of White Light/White Heat and a free outdoor John Prine performance, as well as, SST and Tomato recording artists. He eventually landed in Brooklyn, NY, where he adopted the pseudonym Pure Horsehair as he began his occasional collaborations with multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily. Pure Horsehair has self released recordings including "c", What It Kills To Grow In, Aubade, You Can Burn a Corpse But You Can't Kill a Ghost (live concert from rouen, france on adluna records) and Heap Or Hurries.
