Rameses

Rameses is one of those rare individuals well versed in all aspects of the music and recording industry. His impressive biography includes highly respected skills in musical instruments, vocals, songwriting, production, engineering, and have led to international fame. Some of the industry's most discerning players have come to rely on Rameses's skills to help create successful recordings. Another strong aspect of Rameses's history is his ability to meld different musical cultures into commercially successful recordings. How else would an individual from Puerto Rico with strong Latin roots become a well respected contributor to the music of the Arabic World!? He is continuing to search through the music of different ethnic cultures throughout the world in order to create new and different sounds: So important in today's global society. Rameses was born in Washington DC, moving to Puerto Rico in 1982 at 8 years of age. He grew up with strong musical influences at home. His father was a Baptist Minister, who played guitar and sang. His mother was the choir director, and has a degree in piano. Rameses also spent 5 years as a member of the choir. Their support and influence was essential in the development of the young Rameses's skills. As a youth Rameses attended the Musical Institute Juan Morel Campos in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He also began his performance career, in two locally successful Rock bands. He then attended Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, majoring in Applied Music. Rameses then joined Prime Records of Puerto Rico, the pioneer label of Reggaetón and Hip-Hop in Puerto Rico, as intern to Producer Elvis Cabrera. He soon was hired as Elvis’s assistant, working on various productions for artists such as Angel Lopez, Vico C, Franchesca , and Luz Clarita, he the joined J & N records as Production Assistant and Composer for such artists as Evolution Dance (As a group member of Evolution Dance, he was also signed as an artist, winning the Paoli Award as best new group of 1996), Karlos Silver, Manny Manuel, Cosa Nostra, and Tito. His compositions for Karlos Silver have been used in the movie "Boricuas Bond" broadcast on HBO and Cinemax. Rameses was then signed as an artist for EMI Latin. This resulted in the Rameses debut album “Loquehaces Con El” in which he acted as artist, composer and production assistant. Striking out on his own, Rameses started TG Productions Studios in 1999 primarily assisting in the creation of works for producer Eduardo Reyes of BMG. Rameses then singed as an artist and producer for ARC 21, owned by former Sting manager Miles Copeland (Of Police, REM, & Bangles fame). This provided Rameses with the opportunity to bring his skills to an international market, beyond Puerto Rico and New York. He also began to explore World Music, and how he could use its influence to create a new exciting sound. This partnership with Miles resulted in such recordings such as “Insane”, and the “Walk like an Egyptian” remix from Desert Rose 3. (Walk Like an Egyptian - utilized the vocal talents of Egyptian singer Hakim, the top recording artist in the Arab world) Lab Studio in Puerto Rico was the next organization to take advantage of Rameses's many talents. This resulted in the upcoming release of top Latin Hip-Hop Artist “Tempo”. Also, Rameses produced intros, skids and outros for the most successful Reggaetón release in history, “Barrio Fino”, by Daddy Yankee. Another top Reggaetón duo to benefit by Rameses's abilities is “Yaga Y Mackie”. Today, Rameses has established a relationship in New York City with Dahdoo Productions, creating fusions of World Music with Western Dance, Hip-Hop and Reggaetón. This exciting partnership with world percussionist Richard Khuzami has resulted in the upcoming release “Fused”, and promises to lead to many exciting, internationally spiced recordings. Finally, and most importantly, in 2005, Rameses has signed an artist deal with Wu-Tang Latino. This will give Rameses the opportunity to work with such industry giants as RZA and Rayroq Acosta. With the influence of Wu-Tang, Rameses promises to make the jump from a well respected artist known primarily in the recording industry to the general acclaim he most richly deserves.
