An Oregon-born wild child with an eclectic musical upbringing, Reni at her core is a true musician (touring as keyboardist for The Like in support of the Arctic Monkeys) and serious songwriter (collaborating with seasoned pros like Joseph Arthur). But not surprisingly, what most people remember about Reni is her unique, haunting voice. After classical training on piano and a wide range of musical pursuits in her youth, Reni graduated early from high school and sold her piano on eBay when she was 18 to finance a move to NYC. She curated DIY performances on a makeshift stage in her dorm room at Columbia University and performed at the seminal Sidewalk Cafe. These and other coming-of-age experiences inspired her self-released debut “American Baby,” which was noted for its “jazzy piano and deep vocals” (venuszine.com) and caught the ears of MTV, Nylon Magazine, Dutch National Radio and finally Linda Perry, who signed her to her independent CUSTARD label. Her most recent album, entitled “Ready,” was featured in numerous TV shows, radio programs (including Morning Becomes Eclectic) and has drawn comparisons from Rufus Wainwright to the Sundays and Annie Lenox. Reni recently toured the United States supporting Civil Twilight and is currently working on a new solo record and a collaboration with Joseph Arthur and Gary Go titled "The Actor." This fall she is slated to perform at Nanette Lapore's New York fashion week show as well as supporting a West coast tour with indie darlings Nightmare and the Cat. Read more on Last.fm.
