Robert Taylor is a relative newcomer to the fingerstyle guitar community but after having won the Canadian Fingerstyle Guitar Championship in 2004, his presence was soon felt and Robert found himself being referred to as “the most original fingerstyle guitarist today”. Since then, Robert has performed internationally as a solo guitarist and has played the support role for such musicians as Don Ross, Tony Mcmanus, Valdy, Tommy Emmanuel and Adrian Legg. Robert’s influences stem from a vast source that date back to the age of 6 when he began playing the guitar. He was obsessed with the Delta Blues and was lifting riffs from Robert Johnson and Son House recordings before he even stopped wetting his bed. As his love affair grew away from the blues and into Rock, jazz and East Indian music, the influences of his past never left him, rather they manifested themselves into a fusion of styles that form the music he creates today, 20 years later.
