Some people say you can judge the quality of a person’s life by the enemies they make. If this is at all true, Island Def Jam recording artist, Sam Scarfo is in a class by himself. His rivals may view his talents as a direct threat to their status quo. Nevertheless, he vows to embraces the hate and welcome fans to the future of hip hop music with his debut release due in stores during the summer of 2007. “The top five rappers ten years ago are still the same top five today.” explains the emcee commonly referred to by his friends and family as Choo Choo. “Someone needs to take it to a new level; you can bet on Sam Scarfo to do this”. He makes no excuses for the lack of respect given to the current rooster of hip hop artists that don’t seem to measure up. “We have all this new blood in the game; I think our generation needs to come up.” This gifted songwriter began his musical career with local emcees from his hometown of Plainfield, New Jersey. Bubbling under the surface for years, he calmly created a movement powerful enough to catch the attention of acclaimed video director Bennie Boom. Sam signed a management deal with IBC Entertainment in 2003 with hopes of securing a major label deal. With limited media resources available in the Garden State, Scarfo decided to enter the underground New York City battle circuit to attract attention to himself and his own record label, Gorilla Pimp Recordings. Just as he conquered "Fight Klub" in 2004 by winning the most money in the history of the now infamous battle ground, newly appointed Def Jam management Jay-Z and L.A Reid summoned Scarfo to their office for a quiet little chat. On this, Jay’s first day at work, both Jay and L.A. decide unanimously to sign the Brooklyn born artist to a record contract and imprint deal that would include future releases from him and his four man group, Conair. Production credits on the album now include a who’s who of hip hop’s heat makers such as EZ LP, MIDI Mafia, Ty Fyffe, Fred Wreck and Rick Rock. With special guest appearances from living legends Buju Banton, Patti LaBelle, Nate Dogg, and Prodigy of Mobb Deep, Sam Scarfo guarantees a musical product as potent as his predecessors from the early nineties. As for Sam’s adversaries, they are now left alone to create their own buzz and ignite a flame that will keep the art of hip hop authentic for future generations to enjoy. Prepared by Kevin M.
