Santa Dog play sparkly, sassy, summer-soaked pop with chiming guitars and a sinister perimeter. Think Blondie going two rounds with the Throwing Muses on the edge of a cliff with a stiff breeze whipping up skirts and causing mischief and you're still nowhere near capturing the band's distinctive sound and uniquely English charm. This Bristol-based four piece have have released three EPs(Delicate, Chemical and Belle De Jour), an album(Kittyhawk on Quince Records), a vinyl 7"(Big Bang on Sounds Xp) and are due to release 'Spark It Up' in November 2008. These releases have received much critical praise. Santa Dog have been described thus: 'Shimmering pop escapism the likes of which Venue hasn't seen since the majesty of The Sundays over 10 years ago' - Venue Magazine, 'These tracks deserve to be flooding discos across the land, fuelling first shy glances, then furtive flirting, followed by head-over-heels romance' - The Fly, 'Short, sweet and seductive anthems from these Bristolians with a bright future ahead' - Salvo Magazine, 'Pristine guitars chiming through a percussion section that is seamlessly tight yet energetic...pop gold dust' - Tasty Fanzine, 'simply sublime' -Indie MP3 , 'playing the kind of classic guitar pop that exists in it's own universe, mercifully free of the shackles of hyperbole & trend' - Norman Records, 'more addictive than opium' - Whisperin & Hollerin. Santa Dog have received airplay from BBC Radio 1(Huw Stephens), BBC Radio 2(Steve Lamacq), Kerrang Radio, and XFM Scotland, played live sessions for regional BBC radio. The band have also been gined attention from further afield, having been featured on NPR America's coveted All Songs Considered Open Mic, playlisted on selected college radio, European radio and internet radio. They have played a dizzying number of live shows ranging from festivals(Dot to Dot 2008, Indie Tracks, Celtic Connections 2008, Ashton Court Festival), to indie clubs, industry seminars to serenading the monkeys at Bristol Zoo. They have also played shows in Canada(Canada Music Week), France, Belgium, Italy and Austria and invited to play US tour dates. Thanks to the global reach of the internet the band are featured on numerous podcasts, webzines and music blogs worldwide, with the cds selling as far and wide as the USA, Indonesia, Australia, Europe, Hong Kong and Canada.
